The blue "g" and red "gentoo" logo have been relicensed to CC-BY-SA-4.0 in the 2016-12-18 trustees meeting, see https://projects.gentoo.org/foundation/motions/2016_motions.txt. So the page should be updated accordingly. --ulm (talk) 11:55, 27 December 2016 (UTC)

I have fixed this myself, after getting an ack from dabbott in #gentoo-dev. --ulm (talk) 21:43, 5 January 2017 (UTC)
Thanks, David Abbott (Dabbott) and Ulrich Müller (Ulm) ! --Maffblaster (talk) 00:29, 29 July 2017 (UTC)

Links

  1. In order to avoid redirects please update any fonthead.com links in this article; for example http://www.fonthead.com/license now redirects to https://www.fontspring.com/lic/fonthead-design/desktop.
  2. All www.gentoo.org links should use HTTPS
  3. All sources.gentoo.org links should use HTTPS
  4. User:Drobbins now redirects to User:Daniel_Robbins
  5. http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.linux.gentoo.devel/70870 doesn't work anymore; I haven't been able to locate an alternative yet

Thanks. Fturco (talk) 09:52, 5 August 2017 (UTC)

Items 2, 3, and 4 above are done.
As for item 1, the Font Heads font was licensed under the "Fonthead Design Inc. End User License Agreement Version 2.0 - May 19, 2009" which can still be found in the Wayback Machine: https://web.archive.org/web/20110711015123/http://www.fonthead.com/license. However, the above mentioned redirect links to a different "Fontspring Font License Desktop EULA 1.7" license, so I think that updating the link to that would be wrong. Also I cannot find the Font Heads font at fontspring.com. Again, the Wayback Machine has a copy of it: https://web.archive.org/web/20110711014950/http://www.fonthead.com/fonts/Font-Heads. So I suggest that we update the links to the ones at archive.org.
Item 5 presumably is this thread: https://archives.gentoo.org/gentoo-dev/message/f4fd553bb6377a62b3045a86c9880a21. Maybe Sebastian Pipping (Sping) can confirm this? --ulm (talk) 16:48, 5 August 2017 (UTC)
I've updated the links of items 1 and 5 too, so should be all done now. --ulm (talk) 10:34, 28 August 2017 (UTC)

Please add this logo designed for Project Android,

--Rage (talk) 17:32, 14 August 2018 (UTC)

Lucas, this looks amazing! Is this original work created by you? Also, just verifying, it is CC-BY-SA-3.0 licensed, right? Just want to be sure we get it appropriately licensed. Thank you! --Maffblaster (talk) 20:03, 14 August 2018 (UTC)
Thanks! Yes, I created it to use as the repository icon for my fork of the android overlay on gitlab. According to the official branding guidelines, the Android robot is CC-BY-SA-3.0 so I just used it for mine. --Rage (talk) 22:57, 14 August 2018 (UTC)
Great. I think it would be good to upload a SVG rendering of the Gentoo + Android robot on a transparent background by itself (without the original icons). The first SVG is now on the project page. What should it be named? Gentoo Android? :P --Maffblaster (talk) 16:25, 15 August 2018 (UTC)
I added a new file with just the robot as requested. --Rage (talk) 15:21, 17 August 2018 (UTC)
I like the name "Gentoid". :) It has been added to the artwork page as well. I'll close discussion. Gentoo needs more people with artistic minds like yourself. --Maffblaster (talk) 20:46, 20 August 2018 (UTC)

Minor improvements

This discussion is done as of 2019-05-31.
  1. http://www.fonthead.com/fonts/Font-Heads now redirects to https://www.fontspring.com/foundry/fonthead-design, but perhaps we should use https://web.archive.org/web/20161015025754/http://www.fonthead.com:80/fonts/Font-Heads instead.
  2. https://www.fonthead.com/ now uses the HTTPS protocol.
  3. Under the "Original Znurt" section you can find the following sentence: "Both SVGs and PNGs are licensed under Creative Commons - Attribution / Share Alike." We should add the 2.5 version explicitely in my opinion.
  4. Under the "Gentoo + Android" section you can find the following sentence: "Artwork for the Gentoo Android project created by Lucas Ramage ( Lucas Ramage (rage) )." I would avoid repeating "Lucas Ramage" twice.
  5. Under "The red gentoo logo" section I would add the Path template to "gentoo3.py" in the following sentence: "The script gentoo3.py is used to customize rendering parameters."

Thanks Fturco (talk) 15:50, 21 November 2018 (UTC)

All done. --ulm (talk) 13:59, 31 May 2019 (UTC)

The blender-gentoo-logo overlay is no longer available on Github. The guide should probably be updated with a new link, or be removed if the repo no longer exists and someone doesn't have a mirror saved somewhere.
