Proposition to move ntfs3g article content

Talk status
This discussion is done.

this page should be moved to ntfs3g & in kernel ntfs documentation belongs here instead. 666threesixes666 (talk) 21:24, 17 November 2013 (UTC)

I disagree. There isn't that much information that it warrants two separate pages. I think they can coexist on this one page. — yngwin (wiki admin) (talk) 02:59, 18 November 2013 (UTC)
i disagree with your disagreeing. some people will roll up here and be "like wtf am i reading?" "i go to ntfs page and get ntfs3g information instead" with no explanation to stay away from in kernel ntfs support because it doesn't have write support. someone in irc was pleading with me to not edit wiki pages because i touched this page with out knowing first hand, so now its being discussed instead of done. 666threesixes666 (talk) 11:30, 27 January 2014 (UTC)

Paragon NTFS3 driver

Moved here from bug #822189 5.15 introduces the Paragon NTFS3 driver. The wiki page probably could clarify some things:

  • New kernel symbols
  • Does it need a different set of userspace tools or not?

--Jonas Stein (talk) 23:50, 6 November 2021 (UTC)

Kernel symbols are now present in the article. As for user space tools, I believe it does need a new set and they're planning on releasing their tools, but have not done so yet, as far as I can tell. See the FAQ on this page entitled "Are you planning to add any files system utilities? The existing alternatives such as fsck.NTFS/NTFSck and fsck.(v)fat don’t work well, and the community has been waiting for a fix."
For now, is probably best to create NTFS filesystems with Windows and then mount them with the new driver. --Maffblaster (talk) 19:32, 9 November 2021 (UTC)

Brian Evans (Grknight) : Sorry I just tried to remove extra 'this' here: 'The this old driver could overwrite existing files...' I didn't mean to change anything else. You can do it yourself ) — The preceding unsigned comment was added by Finoderi (talkcontribs)

Likely you were using an outdated edit window and committed from your previous revision. It is good practice to reload the article before modifying to avoid this. I have done it myself so no worries. --Grknight (talk) 14:37, 9 November 2021 (UTC)
