Use the architecture-specific Handbooks

Talk status
This discussion is done.

I don't know if this page is being watched by anyone, but the "Important" note at the top:

"Do not try and follow instructions directly from within the parts, use the architecture-specific handbooks instead."

should probably contain a link to Handbook:Main Page (or perhaps Handbook:Main Page#Viewing the handbook). - dcljr (talk) 22:44, 10 August 2016 (UTC)

Easy to implement and good suggestion. Consider it done. --Maffblaster (talk) 06:22, 5 January 2017 (UTC)
Also note that the 4 pages linked to from Handbook:Parts/Full (and the Handbook:Parts/Full page itself, for that matter) do not contain the "Important" note alluded to above. - dcljr (talk) 06:17, 23 January 2017 (UTC)
Thanks! Fixed! --Maffblaster (talk) 20:30, 26 January 2017 (UTC)

Please update "Custom Portage tree" with "Custom package repository". Search for this line: ; [[Handbook:{{ROOTPAGENAME}}/Portage/CustomTree|Custom Portage tree]]

Done. --Maffblaster (talk) 21:55, 26 January 2017 (UTC)

Adding warning to every Parts subpage

Talk status
This discussion is done as of October 31, 2021.

As a followup to the discussion above about the warning not to try to follow the Handbook from any "Parts" page, that warning (Handbook:Parts/Warning) should really be transcluded (inside a noinclude element) onto every subpage of Handbook:Parts (e.g., Handbook:Parts/Installation/Media, Handbook:Parts/Installation/Disks, etc.), because it's so easy to land on one of those pages from a search. - dcljr (talk) 22:54, 10 July 2018 (UTC)

A few years have passed, but the recommendation has finally been implemented. Thank you, Dcljr , for the suggestion. --Maffblaster (talk) 03:51, 1 November 2021 (UTC)
