Check the specifications: 14APH8 specifications and 16APH8 specifications

The laptops have different motherboards!

I updated the description to clarify this a bit more. The components which are used on the mobos are the same. --Chithanh (talk) 19:47, 22 February 2024 (UTC)
16APH8's motherboard has two M.2 slots (2242, 2280), 14APH8' motherboard has 1 M.2 2280 slot. --Lars Hint (talk) 20:08, 22 February 2024 (UTC)
14APH8's motherboard supports up to 3 independent displays (native display and 2 external monitors via HDMI® and USB-C®), 16APH8's motherboard supports 4 --Lars Hint (talk) 20:15, 22 February 2024 (UTC)
Yes and also cooling is different, screen resolution is different, and the dGPU models have an additional coaxial (barrel) power connector. The Realtek Audio is also different. But all that is inconsequential from the perspective of what is needed to run Gentoo, the configuration is identical. (Besides I think you have the number of supported displays reversed between 14APH8 and 16APH8.) --Chithanh (talk) 20:26, 22 February 2024 (UTC)
Wouldn't the ACPI be different? The 16APH8 may have issues that the 14APH8 does not. If 2 variants will need to be maintained, what's the point of keeping them on the same page? :) --Lars Hint (talk) 20:38, 22 February 2024 (UTC)
I've just bought 16APH8 laptop (Ryzen 7840HS, 32GB, noDGPU). If you need some details would be glad to help. --webcaptcha
The only question is whether to split the page into two or leave it as it is. In the current state the page will have two InfoBoxes (Resources) because the specifications vary, hardware maintenance manuals are different, and support pages are also different. In addition, the page will be bloated with notes on which laptop model the information applies to. In my opinion, 14APH8 users should not see any information related to dGPU at all, because none of the versions have it. Plus, given the different keyboards and sizes, the user experience is different too. If someone describes their experience with one model, it won't apply to another. The original author states that it doesn't matter, what matters is the installation process. I'm also concerned about deviation from the blueprint (2 infoboxes). In the future, if all the laptops pages have the same structure, a bot could be made to keep track of new changes and report deviations from the blueprint. But apparently I'm just an idealist. I will be glad to hear your opinion on the problem. --Lars Hint (talk) 14:40, 4 March 2024 (UTC)
I think a wiki page that covers only the 16APH8 will not be appreciably different from one that covers both the 14APH8 and the 16APH8. That being said there is now one known difference that affects the configuration, which is the broken EDID checksum on 14APH8 which prevents 120 Hz mode from working. --Chithanh (talk) 07:39, 7 March 2024 (UTC)
How would you solve this problem? Should the page cover two different models? --Lars Hint (talk) 18:33, 26 March 2024 (UTC)
