As stated in this article, I see no ebuild for budgie in the Gentoo repository - masked or otherwise. However, I see no ebuild in the Sabayon overlay either (https://github.com/Sabayon/for-gentoo - supposing this the right place to look). Several forum posts I found with a search engine seem to confirm this.
Someone has recently created a new overlay for Budgie - https://www.reddit.com/r/Gentoo/comments/o2y58z/budgiedesktop_overlay/.
I'm going to change the article to reflect these findings. I'm asking for confirmation of all of this because I've never used Budgie and I'm away from my Gentoo box currently, so I can't test for confirmation.
I won't include a reference to the random overly I found on Reddit. If anyone can confirm it is in good working order, maintained and usable I'm sure installation instructions would be appreciated.

- Hello, I am the owner of the overlay mentioned. All should be fully working, if not please do let me know. I use budgie-desktop myself as well
- so that makes it easier to maintain. As can be seen by the commit history the overlay is maintained.

- Wow, thanks for the useful reply !! Sorry for taking so long to integrate your info from here into the Budgie article - there is a lot to do, and things don't always get noticed in a timely manner.
- Budgie looks good, I might try it out some day and write up the article, but there is lots more to do, so it certainly won't be soon... There is a new getting started section in the contributor's guide, if you (or anybody else) ever feel like adding some minimal information to this page about getting Budgie up and running on Gentoo ;).
