What should and should not belong to this category? What about Matlab and GNU Octave articles? --Lars Hint (talk) 20:02, 3 May 2024 (UTC)

Everything related to science (not limited to just software) when none of narrower categories is applicable. I think the mentioned articles qualify CyberTailor (talk) 20:33, 3 May 2024 (UTC)
Could you give an example of a science-related page that's not about software that's a good fit for the Gentoo wiki?
If BOINC, Matlab, and GNU Octave were added to Category:Science and Category:Science were added to Category:Software, these pieces of software would be more easily discoverable by users. — Waldo Lemmer 05:37, 4 May 2024 (UTC)
Mainly Category:Meta guides, however other edge cases are possible CyberTailor (talk) 08:12, 4 May 2024 (UTC)
Ah, I think I understand. Maybe we need Category:Science (software) and Category:Science (meta)? Having both kinds of article belong to Category:Science and having that category belong to both Category:Software and Category:Meta would break the hierarchy we currently have (Wiki Root -> Software and Wiki Root -> Software -> Meta don't share pages between them). — Waldo Lemmer 09:10, 4 May 2024 (UTC)
