udevadm reload? =

Talk status
This discussion is still ongoing.

The page has this:

> After changing rules in /etc/udev/rules.d/, either reboot or make udev reload them: > root #udevadm control --reload-rules

But `man udevadm` says the switch is `--reload`, not `--reload-rules`.

Missed explanation for /etc/conf.d/net.lo

Talk status
This discussion is done.

Where is /etc/conf.d/net.lo coming from?

I've checked Netifrc and Handbook:AMD64/Installation/System#Networking_information there is only /etc/conf.d/net with configuration inside for all adapters, however, no specific /etc/conf.d/net.lo or /etc/conf.d/net.eth0. Please clarify.

In my case, I only kept /etc/conf.d/net and it does work, however, maybe I am missing something.

Changed. Feel free to change things as needed. --Grknight (talk) 02:04, 28 November 2021 (UTC)

Debug log file location?

Talk status
This discussion is still ongoing.

The page has this:

> The log file /run/udev/debug.log will be created but no messages will be logged to it. The most recent versions of udev will log all messages to dmesg.

Issue 1: As described in /etc/conf.d/udev, the actual log file is /run/udevdebug.log

Issue 2: On a fresh install dated November 2023, udev debug entries are not in dmesg

Issue 3: As described in /etc/udev/udev.conf, one might want to update initrd after a change. It might help to add this to the wiki
