Starting
I needed to know more about slotting and only saw this page as dev manual. Not knowing enough to write a complete page, I started to enhance this stub from what I understood so far of the slotting. But I'm not the best to write it, saddly, as I merely worked with slots and not knowing well the concept, for now.
Feel free to enhance it, I added this also to «woke up» peoples that might have knowledge (and time) to keep going ! :)
Addition: I think this stub should become very basics about the slotting, since the dev manual and sub-slots page are giving much info, I guess we should stick to "what are slot", "how do they works" from the user side, but not going into "how makes a ebuild" and such, since the devmanual seems to cover these parts.

"SLOT" vs "Slotting"
This article being called "SLOT" implies that it's about the SLOT ebuild variable. I just wanted to clarify that for Kgdrenefort and anyone else who sees this. It shouldn't affect the article contents much. — Waldo Lemmer 10:39, 19 April 2024 (UTC)
