NEWS Items

The URL mentioned to look up NEWS items, https://www.gentoo.org/support/news-items/, only shows some of the history. At the time of writing (February 2023), it only goes back to February 2017.

Earlier NEWS items are available in the git repository, there's a non-obvious URL syntax to look at that repo at a specific date. Just choose the same date as you've chosen for each step of the gentoo-historical portage tree snapshot:

https://github.com/gentoo/gentoo-news/commits/master?until=2015-01-01

From there, click on the top-most (newest before the given date) commit and there the "Browse Files" button, that will take you to a directory listing which already displays the individual NEWS items along with their titles.
