Concerning Grub 2 Wiki, your addition, "If you have a GPT partition table, you will need a small BIOS boot partition. 1MB is enough." I believe only Windows 8 requires this, or if you are booting using EUFI mode. If the user is not using Windows 8 or they are not booting via EUFI, then they likely do not require any of these custom partitions. Reason being, a user just wants the benefits of a GPT partition table, while avoiding the EUFI nightmare, like me. ;-) ---Roger (talk) 21:13, 21 October 2013 (UTC)

No, you will need this, regardless of UEFI or windows8, if you don't have this small partition, grub2-install will fail with the following error: /usr/sbin/grub2-bios-setup: warning: this GPT partition label contains no BIOS Boot Partition; embedding won't be possible. /usr/sbin/grub2-bios-setup: warning: Embedding is not possible. GRUB can only be installed in this setup by using blocklists. However, blocklists are UNRELIABLE and their use is discouraged.. /usr/sbin/grub2-bios-setup: error: will not proceed with blocklists

with this partition, it works like a charm. this was definitly missing in the article.. ---Flockmock (talk) 10:25, 22 October 2013 (UTC)
