Need a DS15 to actually have enough power to do anything while still keeping power budget under control. According to the datasheet, power draw on a DS15 = 176W vs power draw on an ES47 = 783W. Current known options...
- Island Co: https://www.islandco.com/hp-alphaserver/hp-alphaserver-ds15-ds15a/hp-alphaserver-ds15-ds15a-configure-to-order-server-openvms-tru64 Preconfigured with 4GB RAM, no shipping costs, comes out to about $3700.
- Puget Sound Data Systems: http://www.psds.com/AlphaServer-DS15/AlphaServer-DS15-1GHz-Base-DH-76CAA-AA/flypage-ask2.tpl.html 1GB RAM, $3400, unknown shipping.
- MIT Services: https://shop.mitservices.com/product/hp-alphaserver-ds15-dy-75caa-aw/ $3100 for 1GB RAM, so add in another $300 or so for RAM like https://www.ebay.com/itm/144163648485?hash=item2190d2b3e5:g:NRwAAOSwxqNhH~Yp, and shipping from UK - it'll probably come out to more.
- ELI Group: https://www.ebay.com/itm/200771528988 1GB RAM, $3450 + $65 shipping
- Innovative Peripheral Systems: supposedly $1700? https://www.ipsystemsinc.com/shopping/pgm-more_information.php?id=6
Finally ended up finding one with 2GB from an eBay seller for $1900. This also leaves two slots open, so I can add in 2 more sticks for another $300 (current going price) later. Estimated arrival date 2022.08.23.

HP Integrity RP3440 (unknown specs, confirm with seller) ($1353) - https://www.ebay.com/itm/233665547717
Power draw notes according to datasheets: rp3410 = 426W, rp3440 = 600W, rp4410 = 1065W, C8000 = 690W?

Cavium CN6800-EVB-BASE-BOARD-Y22
Purchased a Cavium Octeon II 68XX development board. Gentoo installation works, but there are no usable network interfaces. The octeon_ethernet
driver panics while loading. The octeon_mgmt
driver works, identifies an interface, and successfully brings it up (link lights come on). It can send out packets, but weirdly cannot receive them.
Edit 2022.06.22: Ordered the PCIe root complex extension. It functions and provides a PCIe bus. However when plugging in a NIC, like my go-to Intel X520-DA2, it fails to enable MSI-X interrupts, which the ixgbe driver needs. If you know how to fix this, PLEASE get in touch with me! Log: https://dpaste.com/62MDHAGS7
Edit 2022.07.27: Have tried two additional cards, a generic Realtek gigabit and a Mellanox ConnectX-3. Both of these cards are completely absent from lspci
. Possibly has to do with PCIe generation maybe? I think both of these cards are PCIe 3.0 while the Intel card is PCIe 2.0, so maybe it just cannot negotiate downwards? I will try and get ahold of a ConnectX-2 later. But I don't have high hopes.
