root=/dev/gpt-auto-root to the kernel command line. This trick is also usefull if a swapfile on the root partition is used instead of a swap partition for hibernation, i.e. one may specify the resume target on the kernel command line as resume=/dev/gpt-auto-root resume_offset=xxxxxxxxx.
