Volume and play-pause buttons recognized as Multimedia events in Xfce (XF86AudioNext - XF86AudioPrev - XF86AudioPlay). No special bluetooth configuration is required. You should only make sure that pulseaudio is built with native-headset useflag, and that pulseaudio spawns correctly from your X session.
