Spacing with multiple packages

Talk status

The icon following the package name doesn't leave any space after it for a second package. This means that commands where more than one package is installed become hard to read. Example:

{{Emerge|mail-client/thunderbird|www-client/firefox|media-video/mplayer}}

Remove automatic "Package" template use

Talk status
This discussion is done.

I would like to get rid of the hard-coded {{Package}} use inside the template, because of:

  • The command is longer than necessary. The category part is normally not needed.
  • The package is most often mentioned in the text before the command. The {{Package}} template is used there already.
  • The {{Package}} template doesn't work for non-packages like "system", "world" or sets.
  • The {{Package}} template link wrong or not existing packages, if used for overlay packages.

If the use of the {{Package}} is wanted, it can still be used, e.g.: {{Emerge/sandbox|{{Package|sys-apps/portage}}}}

root #emerge --ask sys-apps/portage

I support this. — yngwin (wiki admin) (talk) 03:05, 1 September 2012 (UTC)

Please fix this template, it doesn't work as intended with multiple packages. Let's get rid of the package template too. — yngwin (wiki admin) (talk) 03:37, 14 September 2012 (UTC)

i think emerge -av makes more sense than --ask as default. 666threesixes666 (talk) 08:31, 30 December 2013 (UTC)

I think you probably mean 'emerge --ask --verbose', and I'm inclined to agree. But not my decision to take :)
