Knowledge Base Talk:Unmasking a package

From Gentoo Wiki

Under the section: "Unmasking a Package" there is a subsection "Unmask manually", and under that section is a "Using directories"

At the same level as the text coming under "Using Directories" is this text:

"Most masked packages will not accept generic keywords, so specific keywords may need to be granted for the masked package."

This sentence suggest that following the sub section "Using Direstories" may not work. If that is the case, then this warning ought to be higher up at the level "Unmasking a Package" and warn the user that attempts using the following subsections may not work. Dangling a contradiction at the end of a 3rd level subsection is confusing.

I came to this because I wanted to quickly unmask a package and I read this wiki and created the /etc/portage/package.unmask and the file with the appropriate wording and my attempt to emerge the package I thought I had unmasked failed. I expect to be warned that instructions that follow may not work rather than being expected to read the entire page and held accountable to knowing all the contents including any warning tagged on at the end. I faced this kind of structure in another wiki page where I logged a bug and was told that a warning at the very bottom of the page should have clued me in to add a key word to make the emerge succeed.
