Conclusion
Unlike text, <div>s don't seem to be affected by paragraph spacing. This means that a compromise needs to be found such that they look good whether they're the last thing in the paragraph or not. I think margin-bottom: 10px looks better than the current margin-bottom: 20px that's coming from class .alert.
