Troubleshooting

Screen tearing

Note
This issue does not affect Wayland compositors (e.g. Sway).

Xorg

To fix the screen tearing, the following Xorg configuration file should be created [1]:

FILE /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.conf
Section "Device"
   Identifier "Intel Graphics"
   Driver "intel"
   Option "TearFree" "true"
EndSection

The configuration file requires x11-drivers/xf86-video-intel to be installed [2], as the fix has not yet been implemented [3] in xf86-video-modesetting (part of x11-base/xorg-server):

root #emerge --ask x11-drivers/xf86-video-intel

The new configuration requires a reboot.
