best practices, when, where, how. avoid slow Portage.

LTS packages

Apache, Django, PHP, Python, etc... : guarantee selected versions to work for five years before being removed from the repo. Apply security patches as necessary. This is because some organizations want long term visibility on some things, that they want to work without development work (migration) for a guaranteed time period. Afaics Gentoo currently provides no guarantee of how long a package will remain in the repo. Why not try to LTS the same versions as Debian does ? I know this could be some work...
