x32

This discussion is done.

From section "Will I have a performance upgrade if I use a 64bit system instead of 32bit?":

64bit is generally faster when it comes to floating point computing…

If my understanding right, x32 applications works with FPU as well as "regular" x86_64 apps. Maybe make sense expand this article with notes about x32 or at least proper links? — The preceding unsigned comment was added by Totktonada (talkcontribs) 29 March 2014‎

This article is editable by the public. Expand it with links if you don't find it adequate. --Maffblaster (talk) 23:07, 28 April 2017 (UTC)

Necessary of "rc-update add cpufrequtils boot"

Talk status
This discussion is done as of April 28, 2017.

About /etc/{conf,init}.d/cpufrequtils from section "How do I use Cool'n'Quiet/PowerNow/SpeedStep features?".

I understand why someone can need START_OPTS: set CPU governor at startup without kernel rebuild. Useful of such feature is ambiguous, but okay. But what function perform STOP_OPTS, why someone can need in this?

At least note that "rc-update add cpufrequtils boot" is very optional make sense in this article. — The preceding unsigned comment was added by Totktonada (talkcontribs) 29 March 2014‎

This article needs some overhaul since sys-power/cpufrequtils has been removed from the tree. --Charles17 (talk) 05:28, 29 May 2015 (UTC)

E-mail questions?

Talk status
This discussion is done as of 11 February 2015.

The FAQ says, "If you have suggestions or questions about this FAQ, you are welcome to send an e-mail to amd64@gentoo.org." Do we really still want to say this now that the FAQ is on a wiki? - dcljr (talk) 23:25, 11 February 2015 (UTC)

Nah. I fixed this by instructing people to leave a comment on the talk page. Thanks! --Maffblaster (talk) 11:27, 28 January 2016 (UTC)

flash player - warning

Talk status
This discussion is done.

Flash player has picked up the support for gnu/linux is useless to leave that warning, which indicates that the package is old. — The preceding unsigned comment was added by Oscarandrea (talkcontribs) 04:52, March 12, 2017‎

Hi Oscarandrea , please remember to sign discussions using the "Signature and timestamp" button in the edit toolbox. This page is editable by every user. Please remove the warning yourself if it is not accurate because the package doesn't exist in the Gentoo ebuild repository anymore. Kind regards, --Maffblaster (talk) 12:33, 24 April 2017 (UTC)

Links multilib

Talk status
This discussion is done.

In the section "What is multilib and how can I use it?" is a warning that contains a link (in other languages as english), the content of the blog it links to has changed (now distributing a film download), we should remove the link but I dont know how to do it because it is already removed in the english version and the other ones are translated versions. — The preceding unsigned comment was added by Stefan248 (talkcontribs) 08:28, April 23, 2017‎

Hi Stefan248 , please remember to sign discussions using the "Signature and timestamp" button in the edit toolbox. If the link is already gone in the English version, you'll have to wait for the translators of the non-English articles to catch up to the point where the English article resides. There is nothing anyone can do in order to speed up translations besides performing the actual translation work (which I don't do). --Maffblaster (talk) 12:33, 24 April 2017 (UTC)
